My Teacher is a Martian. I tried listening to this while cooking but it is hard work for my very basic Chinese - I have to concentrate hard and even so still miss quite a lot. It probably makes sense to revert to listening to something easier while cooking!
Nice choice - that might be my favorite of the MC breakthrough books. It would be tough without the pictures and the Chinese characters in view, I think, especially if it's a bit of a challenging text for you.

"My Teacher is a Martian." Yesterday I listened while reading along and looking at the vocab at the back of the book. Today I just listened again, without the help of the book, and it was much easier. So even though my listening is much better than my reading, reading along helped. Not quite sure why but I will do that again!

I understand better if I write down keywords or any words. I think it gives my brain a moment to process what was said instead of just listening for the coming words. Although I don't do it when I'm on my sofa watching tv but when I'm on my laptop watching youtube clips.
