Read and re-read two pages' worth of an "easy" book. It can only get faster with practice.

I read pages 1 - 2 of 错， 错， 错！ (ISBN 978-7-301-07904-1). It is hard to do extensive reading without doing intensive reading at low levels of a language. Therefore, what I do in Mandarin will need to be intensive to some degree.
