After downloading Hellotalk, over the course of two days, spent chatting and reading several sentences in Chinese. After requesting a more simpler form of communication, many users were helpful in writing basic conversation prompters and I was able to read through them all and even start writing in Chinese as well.

Finished the article. Towards the end was far better at recognising what new vocabulary could've meant depending on context. Planning on rereading it a few days later to see how well I've remembered the vocabulary and its pronunciation.

Reread the first article I started reading. This time I recognised much more of the new vocabulary but still struggled with reading without pause or hints. I've spent time recording the useful vocabulary into ankis.

First time trying to properly read in Chinese. Really struggled and, despite it being HSK 1 level, couldn't get extensive quality reading since I believe I knew only 80% of the words. Thus, spent 25 minutes on only 3 sentences. However, still pleased as the content (news article from Decipher Chinese ) was interesting (related to Chinese culture) and I've got some new vocabulary. Hopefully by the end of the month I'll see some progress and can make a habit out of reading some Chinese everyday, to actually be able to do extensive reading.

Continued on reading the article from Decipher Chinese. The more I reread, along with listening and repeating, the better my reading and understanding gets.
