Finished re-reading the second chapter of 西游记 in depth and making Anki flashcards for the new words and idioms. There were significantly fewer new words in the second chapter than the first.

Finished the first chapter of 西游记 and made flashcards for all the words and idioms I didn't know. Also read the second and third chapters without looking up any words but understanding the general meaning. Will go back and read these chapters again tomorrow and look up all the words I didn't know as well as make flashcards for them.
No, I'm reading the 中国少年儿童新闻出版总社 version. The ISBN is 978-7-5148-2078-2. I do use the Pleco Live OCR function for looking up words that I don't know. For context, I'm almost through HSK 4.

Almost finished the first chapter of 西游记. I'm finding the grammar is not very difficult, it's just that there's a lot of vocab I'm unfamiliar with. I've been making Anki flashcards for each new word and idiom I come across. The imagery is great and I'm enjoying it so far.

Started reading a simplified version of 西游记. There are 182 pages total but I only finished the first two pages today. Most of the time was spent looking up words and creating flashcards for those words.

Are you reading the Pleco version of it? I'm thinking of having a go at that. I've tried reading a version written for Taiwanese grade schoolers, but that was surprisingly brutal, spiked with literary idioms they hope to teach the kids...
