I did some active listening practice by transcribing (pinyinfy) an audio recording i recorded from Youtube with audacity. What I learned so far: 1) Don't do this kind of practice with longer audio clips as it will drive you crazy. 2) I tend to have issues distinguishing -n and -ng sounds. However, I need to further explore if this is due to bad listening skills or due to the bad sound quality of the audio clip. (listening to an old epsiode of a show I like to watch).
I have spent half an hour on listening actively and half an hour on background listening.
