Eazy Chinese vlog. Listned passively twice. Heard lots of stuff about rain.
Got distracted by other somewhat Chinese-ish videos, grrr.

Passive, and occasionally active when I started shadowing, listening to the long LCTS episode about the iPhone 11.

Background/passive-ish listening to old, easy LCTS episodes and a little Chinese music

Maayot, with some active listening. It still takes me a few listens on the beginners ones to get all of the details. Mandarin Corner – phone addiction in China. Listened to this twice passively. I could understand several parts of it though, when I tuned in more.
I did get distracted in the middle though on Youtube, so it turned into two section of a practice session. :(

passive listening while doing chores. It was from my medium list and was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be!

Nice! It's really exciting when that happens. We're learning!

Day 8: Maayot beginner 2 minute stories – did some actively (transcribing) and a few as background. The speech is not completely natural = it’s a little slow - but I still do not understand everything, so I figure I’ll start here with this easier stuff. The tones are a little off sometimes though. The pronunciation of the sounds is a slightly different sound than I’m used to, which I guess is good.

Passive listening to Mandarin Corner. Then actively listened to Maayot dialogues on Spotify. I could understand beginner very well after 2 listens. Did a little more background listening.

Passive Listening. Listened to a dialogue by Eazy Chinese and then Shoushouzhongwen. The first one was hard. I listened to it multiple times. The shoushou one I had heard part of before, but I don't think I ever finished it. I understood some of it the first time and more the second time.

listened multiple times to a dialogue by Eazy Chinese on YouTube. It also went through vocab and questions about the dialogue in Chinese, so by the time I was done, I understood the gist of it!

Listened to new medium Chinese listening playlist on youtube I made yesterday. It was mostly shuoshuozhongwen, but it was pretty good for just passive listening. Actually, I notice that it is much easier to understand than it used to be! She speaks so slowly in some of those that I actually considered speeding her up!

Mandarin Corner – tour of apartment in China. I listened to it twice, but it was too fast for me (and too many new words). I slowed it down to 0.75 and tried shadowing (twice). I could actually hear her dropping the g’s, which was interesting.
Also did some background listening to old LCTS episode while trying to organize my audio library on both YouTube and Spotify. If anyone has suggestions for lower-intermediate or higher-beginner level content, let me know! I have a hard time finding a lot of stuff that’s not too hard.

Listening to yesterday’s story again and finished the explanation of it. When I went back, I could understand a lot more. It just seems like there’s a lot of vocab that I have to learn to be able to understand these stories. Also, just the listening again helped with parts I knew but missed the first time. I again wrote down words I didn’t know and looked them up.

(Spotify) Life in Chinese – E2 about life during 2020. LCTS 1.3.23 A and almost finished with B (16 min in). I just listened through both of them while doing chores and dawdling around. The first I might understand more if I went back through very carefully. But from the English summary she gave at the end, it was too hard. The second didn’t make a lot of sense until I got to the Jie3du2 section (pt. B), which made a LOT of sense. Then I went back through B and wrote some notes in Chinese and picked out a few new words to learn.

Never heard of Life in Chinese before. Thanks for the tip! I'm going to check it out.
